Romantics 01:47
You’ll pull it off the shelf and crack the binding; Peruse the lines and not read a single word. The short prose, an incomplete thought or two; The roles and benchmarks yet to be fleshed out. Don’t skip ahead just yet.
2.
Let's take them all now, step out into the dark together and see how it goes, throw caution to the wind. We'll see through a different set of eyes, shed light on how beautiful a mess can be; If only for tonight.
3.
Never Say 01:26
They might start up in a mumble or trickle out with a sigh. Either way, my thoughts are guaranteed to make you roll your eyes. Careful not to think too loud cause you might hear me choking on the words I’d never say. Like “hey let’s run away, leave a trail of smoke and fire in our wake.” There I go again. I blabber on to myself, those things I’d never say
4.
Replacements 01:45
It’s not for me to say what’s right anymore but you’re photogenic as always. I can’t say I’m not relieved but your smile begs some questions, like “who’s behind the lens?” and “What tune would you be singing now if we had stuck around and let it be—let it seethe again?”
5.
Brain Noise 01:59
Dragging thoughts around, collecting dusty metaphors like 'forward motion', 'railroads', and 'arms too weak to carry the weight of...' whatever it is I’m trying to convey. If I could pick you up, I’d let you down. Or maybe you just want somebody to play that fool. Cards close to my chest, I’ll test the water and smell the breath of a gift horse. I can’t go off the rails if I never got on the train in the first place. I won’t have to swim to shore if I keep my feet on the ground.
6.
Red Morning 02:59
Lament with the retreating streetlights, ancestors of these blood red clouds. I hear those old foreboding words and this light concedes those contradicted memories—impressions of the winding roads. Their ebb and flow convene at tired red eyes, a road map of a life she never wanted. “Take warning boy, the worst is yet to…” There’s shelter if I stay, dear—it’s that or brave the storm again. What used to be a dream’s now a nightmare (her words, not mine). “Take warning boy, the worst is yet to come.” Now that the future is the present, what has it brought? Only an end to seeing ahead. She’ll stay inside and count her blessings.
7.
Fake Smiles 00:48
You're not ok; your smile is preloaded for those banal inquiries. But does it comfort you to know that mine, too, is just for show? At least you know you're not alone. Wouldn't it be nice to get away? Why do we have to spend our lifetime on the line? Anything to help us get to sleep tonight.
8.
If all the empty provinces were sawed off; if I could meet you where the shield and the mountains collide, then why wouldn’t I pack up the chords of unused songs and take the trip by road? We could start a band that sounds like Tenement. We’ll argue over a dumb name or two but know it’ll never last.
9.
It’s the repetition that gets to you. Hold it in your lungs. It’s such a slow death. Does it remind you of anything? Am I failing to get through to you? Or just too stoned to face the truth? But it’s only a matter of time, darling, we stop thinking in straight lines, right? Or am I just wasting mine?

Batten down the hatches of my inclination; I wait for the clock to say it’s ok to chase the clarity only you provide and, after all, you’re waiting for me. Wish I could blame you but I can’t. Though, I didn’t get there on my own. You didn’t make it hard, you didn’t make it easy either. You just helped unlock the door. These waves of trepidation seem so second hand, not like before. Wish I could leave you but I can’t. I could never get there on my own. Batten down the hatches then blow the doors wide open.
